A series of evening meetings for farmers of the Huron area will start Monday at the Bea die County Courthouse, under the sponsorship of the Huron High School’ vocational agricul ture department. All sessions will be at 7:30 p.m. The first session will cover livestock diseases. Dr. George Chaffee and Dr. Fields of the Livestock Sanitary Board will report on the status of the con trol programs and offer infor mation on animal diseases. Other topics for discussion are soil characteristics and quali ties. Feb. 10: soil sampling, fer tilizing and cropping recom mendations, Feb. 17 at the Farmers Union building: pro duction testing of beef cattle with a discussion by farmers in the programs and a film and talk on federal meat inspection, Feb. 24. Chemistry of the animal body and feeds and why one feed is better than another will be dis cussed March 2: wintering cat tle and proper rations, March 9: selecting electric motors for the job and maintenance, Beadle Electric and South Dakota State College specialists, in the ag shop of the high school. Sessions of the farm show which will be interesting and in formative are Feb. 4, 10-11:30 a.m., hog judging; 11:30, dem onstration and comparison of grades of market hogs with Ar mour and Co., personnel; 8 p.m., beef cutting demonstra tion by Terry Baker, National Livestock and Meat Board; and Feb. 5, 10:30 a.m., sheep show and judging contest open to ev eryone. The series of farm meetings is arranged by the high school agriculture department in co operation with the Beadle Coun ty Extension Service.
