Death of M. C. C.etlln of I/OganM. C. Gettifc, the subject of this sketch, was born in Carroll Co., Ohio, Oct. 1st, 18:12. anlt;l died at Logan, N. Dak., on Jan. 20th, 1922. At the age of sixteen he emigrated to eastern Iowa, working in the .sawmills on the Mississippi river. Later removing to Tama County, Iowa, where in the early fifties he married a Miss Randall. to which union were bom 10 children, six of _whom survive him. His first wife died in the late seventies. He later was married to Melissa Williams, who with two daughters and one son ulslt;%survive him. As one of the pioneers of early Iowa, Mr. Geltis* naturally turned his hand to many accomplishments. He was a farmer, a plasterer, stofce mason, singing teacher, and the writer best remembers him as a ready debater of .he questions of forty years ago. Hisgenial disposition and ready wit coupled with an extehsive reading, made him no mean antagonist on the'platform. He joined the I. O. O. F. over -10 yeais ago, and always strove to exemplify the teachings of that order. He counted every man his friend and counted not in vain.May his greatest monument be the memory of the good he has done.Burial took place in Sawyer, Tuesday. where the funeral was held.—Contributed.Minot Will Buy $6,000 Scarifier For Street*The City of Minot contemplates investing in a scarifier that will cost five or six thousand dollars. A scarifier is a machine that loosens up the gravel in the streets and the one which the city proposes to buy will have a roller attachment which will pack the gravel or dirt well after leveling it. All low spots will be filled. The outfit will weigh ten tons and will be run either with steam or gasoline. The city now has a small scarifier and a two ton roller, horse drawn, With a machine like the one that is now contemplated, it is figured that all of the streets of the city can
