J ‘‘Uncle” John Wainman. a wicDlv*known and respected citizen of this city, died at 9 o'clock Wednesday nigh* at the home of his son, William J. Wainman, at Washington. Mr, Wainman had been in declining health for several months. During the past few weeks his strength had failed rapidly and death had been expected for several days.Mr. Wainman was born in Crawford county, Indiana but had been a resident of Loogootee for a number of y^ars. He resided at Washington before coming to this eitv.X 9 k? «.Deceased was a veteran of the civil war, he having served three years in Company I. 65th Indiana volunteer infantry, and was a member of Tims. J. Brooks Post No. 822, G. A. R., of this city.Deceased leaves two sons—Will iam J. Wainman, of Washington, and Henry C. Wainman, of East St. Louis. 111., both of whom are employed in the police department of tiie B. cC (). Southwestern.The remains will be brought to Loogootee on train 4 this morning and will be taken to Mt. Pleasant where interment will be made in old St. John's cemetery.
