A latter in Um Bob tan Transcript uji : Am laok would bre it, daring the war tho Yankee found his way toFlorida, saw the possibilities, and after j tlie war was over returned to Florida and set himself to work to soive tie problem of making some money ont of the wild orange grovea. He out all the trees in the soar groves that were not wanted, and budded the stock with sweet fruit, which plan proved a success, fruit appearing in from three to four years. He quickly perceived the value of this and other fruits which need tropical sun, and set the boom agoing that has already attained immense proportions and is increasing annually. The orange may be called the staple product of Florida, so generally is it cultivated. Almost every enterprising planter lias his grove, which is very tenderly cared for, as on this he expeota to depend for a good income wlxen it gets into bearing. Many groves are owned by non-resideDts, merchants, clerks, and even by mechanics who cannot afford to spend all their time waiting on an orange grove. Such persona hire their work done for a small snm, especially where they have not enoaghmoney to go and do all they want to dc, such as build a house, etc. The grov is cared for by some of tho residents. The orange tree is a very prolific lcnrer seldom having an off year. Fifteen thousand oranges have been picked from a single tree in one season. Thisis very extra, however. Tho prosperitywhich Florida is enjoying is due largelyto the pash and enterprise of the Yankee. We have said enough abont the orange tree for tho present. Wecan tell you much about other tntw, and what they will do in Florida, such as the pench tree (which ripens its fruit in early May), also the La Conte pear, Japanese persimmon, strawberry, and other trees, grapes, llgs. etc., but we fear we have already trespassed too much upon your valuable space, though you would be astonished it voh knew how many thero are who look eagerly for information on Florida. It has been our pleasure to already have posted many, and advised many to stay at \at home, their funds being too small.
