Complimentary.Press and Dak(tt m.U. S. Marshal Byron E. Pay reached Yankton last evening after quite au extensive official trip through Central Dakota, during which he has been summoning jurors and witnesses for the present term of the U. S. court sitting here. Mr. Pay's residence is at Oakwood, Brookings county, where he has resided twelve years. lie is a pioneer ol the upper Sioux and although a young man now, has witnessed the growth and development of that section of Dakota from the day when the earliest feeble settlements were founded by the prairie schooner emigrant, to this time when the influx of immigration over our four lines of railroad numbers a thousand a day. Mr. Pay has been active in the development of that section, is endowed with untiring energy, and is held in high esteem by the people of Brookings and neighboring counties where he has been known. Among the U. S. Marshals force there are none who render more efficient service, or who enjoy a greater degree of confidence.
