Waldrup, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Waldrup, Route 1, Lexington, upon completion of three weeks of intensive training, has graduated from Demolition School, The Parachute School, Fort Benning, Georgia. This course is one of the five specialists schools offered to the parachutist at Fort Benning. They include Demolition, c’amouflage, Communications, Biggers and Machine Maintenance. Only qualified jumper nay apply, and only the better men from each qualifying class will receive this instruction.The work of the demolitionist is of prime importance in the modern warfare which is waged by the hard hitting paratrooper. They study and practice demolition methods of setting and disarming booby traps, destroying bridges, and blowing up industrial plants, dams, and all means of communications. In addition, they practice with the flame thrower and the Army’s famed “ba-booka In combat, fully equipped demolitionist jumps with well over one hundred pounds of equipment and is literally a one man combat team.
