EFFINGHAM Mr. and Mrs. Israel McDaniel and daughter, Evelyn of Kansas City, are guests at the Sylvester McDaniel home. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chiles enter tained with a card party at their home in Effingham Saturday evening to cele brate their forty-ninth wedding anni versary and as a farewell for the Clar ence Jones family. The Joneses will move to the Delaney farm in Doniphan county March 1. Guests at the party were Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Meader of Atchison, Mr. and Mrs. Wil Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koneene and Charles Hensley. Miss Elizabeth Leonard entertained 25 friends Saturday evening as a sur prise for Miss Anna Buddenbohm. The occasion was Miss Buddenbohm's birth day. The Clarence Jones family will have a public farm sale about the middle of February. They live on the Hawk-Howe farm. A bunch of little girls north of town has organized a new club, which they christened the Happy Hollow club. Wil de Hawk is president, Bertilla Wohletz vice president and treasurer. The club met with Bertilla, Saturday, and spent the afternoon in games and contests. Prizes were won by Wilda Hawk, and Ruth Candreia, a club guest. Leonard Foster accompanied Dove Gass, an employe of the Union Oil Coe., of Kansas City, to Trenton, Mo., Sat urday for a couple of days visit with the Fosters’ former neighbors in and near Trenton. Joe Lukashavac, who has made his home with his sisters, Mrs. George Hint and Mrs. Arch Wilson the past several years, has gone to New Castle, Wyo ming, where he will be employed by his sister, Mrs. Fred Ashe, and husband in their cafe. Fifty-four attended the farewell party given by the Priscilla club in honor of the Corbin Penny family Fri day evening at the Penny home. Clyde Shell won the men’s prize, handker chiefs and Mrs. Robert Workman the ladies’ prize, a towel. ‘The club and school will enjoy an oyster supper at the South Creek school house Tuesday evening. The school will buy the oys ters with money cleared on a pro gram. The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs re port a wonderfully nice time at their Cloud High school basketball team still is ever victorious this season. White Cloud defeated Severance 34 to 24 at White Cloud Friday night.
