FOUR PRISONERS MAKE GOOD THEIR GETAWAYTook the Noble County Sheriff by Surprise and Made Escape by Using His AutoAt an early hoar last Thursday morning four prisoners escaped from th«-* Noble county jail at Albion, and stealing Sheriff Sawyer's automobile1 which was in his garage in the jail yard, made good their get away, driving tu LaGrange where they abandoned the auto and it is supposed boarded a train for some Michigan point. The prisoners who escaped were Charles McBride, alias Clifford Collins, and Linn McBride, alias Charles Graft both of Marion; D. L. Sayles of near Ligonier, sentenced to the penal farm Wednesday on a petit larceny charge, and Charles Pierson, also near Ligonier, indicted by the grand jury on the same charge of petit larceny. Pierson had pleaded guilty and was to be tried January 27.William Cline of Kendallvilio, who was in the same apartment with the quartet, refused to ^join the crowd in the jail breaking affair, and as a result, two of the jail breakers stood on ^ guard and prevented him from sound* ^ ing a warning to Sheriff Sawyer, while the other two members of the gang were busily engaged in the effort to gain their freedom. t Two of Avllla Gang.t The McBride brothers are two of the members of the trio of alleged post-office robbers, who on Christmas morning are charged with rohhing the post-office and six stores at Avilla, and were captured after a sensational chase through marshes and woodlands by a posse of citizens headed by Sheriff Sawyer.The prisoners made their escape through the basement of the jail, by working a hole through the stone wall.
