(Bevone Jepax Conroy.) HIE Court was crowded today to witness the case against the twenty three young boys and girls for sliding on the public streets. Judge Conroy heard the cases In his room, and as their names were called the accused filed in one by one and their cases were disposed of with despatch. Supt. Sullivan conduct ed the prosecution. Here is the list of women and the fines ;— summoned by Constables Ray mond and Grouchy ; John Mulcahey, dlued $1 and costs; John Hearn, skating, to pay costs; Selby Cooper, skating, to pay costs; Pierce Roberts, skating, to pay costs; John Tucker, proven that he was not there, discharged; Geo. Wolf, $1 and costs; Wilfred Whiteway, sliding, 81 and costs; Will Chafe, sliding, $1 and costs; Maggie Oliver and Maggie Kavanagh, case with drawn; Maud Thistle, $1 and costs. “men by Countable man; John Brown, sliding. his father is a cooper, and John was accustomed to go out with his slide buying barrels. Pay costs only; Mark Whielan, sliding with Brown, also let off with costs, as the Judge would not make fish of one and flesh of the other. Clem. Thistle, Bert. Holloway and Henry Guzzwell. These three boys were tried together at the re quest of Messrs. Nlutchings Black wood, who appeared for them, they be ing pupils of the Methodist College. Mr. Blackwood pointed out the fact that the action of the police in this matter was so intermittent that It was difficult to avoid the present trouble, even with the very best intentions on the part of the boys, their parents and teachers. ‘They were sometimes for weeks together allowed to slide without interference by the police, and all of a sudden the officers started to carry out the law, mot of the boys mowing nothing of it. As Guzzwell and Thistle were pen to the city ways, being strangers, the Judge let them off, but ‘Holloway was fined $1; Stanley Babstock, sliding, fined $1; Harold Jones, to pay costs; Patrick Hynes, to pay costs, Summoned by Sergt. Sparrow. William Aminson, of Signal THIS Road, a 23-year-old seaman, was up for knock ing down an old gentleman named Angel while sliding over Signal Hill Road. Mr. P. McGinn gave evidence against him, having seen the occurrence. Ile picked up the fallen man after the acci dent, and found a wound on the side of his head caused by the fall. He washed the wound and sent Angel home, ad vising bins to get a doctor. Arminson was fined $2 or seven days. The Last on the Long List was Constable Courtenay’s case against Peter Lundrigan, who, while slidin down Alexander Street on the 22nd, wit Miss Penney, ran into a sleigh, whereby both Miss P. and the sleigh were injured, SWE the former had to be carried home in [a state of call £ 3 or fourteen da Lundrigan was fined Nis Manor fetched a sigh of relief when the docket was at m ust exhausted.
