Tus Most Never Ciocx in Illinois.—The Abingdon, (lit), Knoxonian gives an account of a very remarkable piece of mechanism executed by a citizen of that place who is a native of Blair's Valley in this county, and son of Mr. James Blair, one of the most highly esteemed among the farmers of our county. It saya: ‘Dr. J. L. Blair, of this place, has completed a clock which has been keeping correct time for over two weeks in this office on Main street, and we venture to say it is the most ingenious contri vance, perhaps, ever invented in the state of Kilola. This wonderful piece of mechanism will be examined with even greater interest when it is known that it was made at odd spells within a period of three weeks, and a common pocket knife was almost the only tool used by the inge nious M. D. The clock tells the minutes and hows, and has only one hand ; it tells the day of the week, the work of the year, the month, the day of the month, the season of the year, all the most important historical events of the year; also shows the earth’s orbit around the sun, and the moon’s orbit around the earth. On the top of the clock is a miniature skeleton holding a sythe; and every time the pendulum beats ‘Father Time’ swings this sythe. It is an eight day clock. The case is neat and tastefully ar ranged.”
