THETHURSDAY::::::::::: JAN. 25, 1838.(£jr For the information of travellers, persons residing in the country, and our readers generally we publish the following.The bridges over the Wabash being now so far complete as to admit of passage and the Directors having appointed a collector to receive toll, he is authorized to demand and receive a toll not exceeding the following rates, viz:For every four wheeled carnage with two horsesor oxen, $0.25For each additional horse or ox attached 6 *For every two wheeled pleasure carriage 25 For every wagon or cart, sleigh, sled orcutter w ith one horse 18}do do with 2 horses or oxen 25 Forman and horseFor each horse or mule 6}For every head of neat cattle 3For every hog or sheep 1For each foot passenger 6}“If any person shall wilfully impair or injure said bridge, he, she or they so offending shall forfeit and pay to the corporation treble the amount it may cost to re-pair the same, with costs of suit, to be recovered on conviction thereof before any court of competent jurisdiction.“If any person shall forcibly pass the gate without having paid the legal toll, he shall forfeit and pay to the said corporation eight times the amount of legal toil;to be recovered by an action of debt before any justice of the peace.”We are authorized to say that it is the intention of the Directors to enforce the above mentioned provisions of the charter without respect to persons.1i
