KBIMKBIM AM/FM Radio recently expanded its operations and doubled its floor space by moving the radio broadcasting station to 1301 N. Main St.The location was chosen because of the suitability of the existing building and to accommodate the new tower erected to transmit its signal and to provide ground space for three satellite dishes that bring in programming.KBIM Radio has been serving Roswell and southeastern New Mexico since 1953, when five local businessmen, including W.C. Taylor, Gene Reisch-man, J. Kenneth Smith, Raymond Harris and the late Homer Glover acquired the broadcast property.Through the years the station has grown. With the addition of the 100,000-watt KBIM FM 95, the station has become the only commercial radio that serves Roswell, Artesia, Carlsbad. Hobbs, Eunice, Jal, Lovington, Tatum and Ruid-oso, as well as parts of West TexasIn 1981 KBIM AM/FM was purchased by King Broadcasting. Local owners Betty and John King and their daughters, Karolyn King and Kathe-ryn King Marley, have reconfirmed the intent of the original founders to be a radio broadcast station dedicated to serving its listeners and sponsors with news, information, sports, musical entertainment and area and community service.For 35 years, KBIM AM carried contemporary music.
