ftfeteor Shake* the Barth*Pocahontas* Jan- 24.—(Special.)-A meteor or nar1e from a. fiying comet tell iiQiir here' last night at 11 -o'clock. Tha phenomenon was seen by a number of persons. When it passed- over ihere was a flush of light as brilliant as lightning and -the earth was light as day for fully thirty seconds. A large spark wa3 seen to dart downward and is supposed to have struck thfc ermuid abnut four miles south of town. Immediately there was a roar as of t!iunder which ^rattled windows, and I those oijimiIc say they felt the air vjybrale distinctly.
