—A receiver has been appointed for the Peru Glass ami Carbon Works. The liabilities of the company are placed at $51,000 and the assets at §21,000.—The daughter of James 11. Davis, living hear Ilargan, was horribly burned by her clothing igniting; while alone in the house. She died of her injuries. lt;— A. bill was introduced in Congress by Mr. Barrett appropriating §25,000 for the purchase of additional ground in KvansviUe, adjoining the marine hospital site.—There was much rejoicing at South Bend over a telegram announcing that President Harrison had signed the bill appropriating §75,000 for a public building at that place.— .\t Fort Wayne Charles Powers struck his stepson, Charles Curtis, over the tenvple with a base-bail club, crushing par., of the skull. The father is in jail awaiting the result of the injury.—John H. Davis, member of the firm of D. R. Burns Co., manufacturers In Peru, made application for the appointment of a receiver, which was granted. The liabilities are §51,000; assets, §25,000.
