Kingsford Couple Adopts Boy in IndiaKINGSFORD — Mr. Mrs. George Lagina have spiritually “adopted” Bharat Kheroar, 12, who is being cared for at St. Mary’s Boarding School in Nagrakata, India.The adoption was through Foster Parents Mission Club, 9800 Oakland Avc., Detroit, an organization dedicated to aiding destitute Asian children.Bharat comes from a family of six. Both parents arc living but his father earns only $10a month as a laborer. The boy was brought to St. Mary’s in the hope that he would receive better’ care and some schooling. Through the help of Mr. and Mrs. Lagina, he is fed and clothed and may receive at least a basic education.Foster Parents donate $6 a month towards their child’s support, plus $5 per year to help defray office expenses in Detroit. This makes for an annual total of less than 22 cents per day. The adoption support is kept at the barest minimum so that a greater number of needy children will receive some aid. (All donations are tax -deductible.)Although Mr. and Mrs. Lagina will probably never get to meet their foster son, they can write to him, if they wish. The children are told there isi-1someone far away who loves them. They repay their Foster Parents in the only way possible to them, byremembering them in theirdaily prayers.
