The excuse the Union gives for, defending the Secesh Conven tion held at Indianapolis on the 8th inst., is that about “three hun dred of his subscribers are of that party.” We venture the assertion that he cannot find twenty-five Democrats in this county who would approve the actions of that peasy, if they could know and un derstand what was said and done in that convention. The Demo cratic papers, including the her maphrodite Union, dare not pub lish a truthful statement of the acts of that traitorous assemblage. —A member of the 10th Ind. Reg. writing from the camp occu pied by Zollicoffer previous to the late battle at Summersett, Ky., says: “One prisoner, a Mississippian, whom I took, said to me: ‘Boys, you fight like hell—you are too heavy for us!’ We had to con tend against Mississippians, South Carolinians, Alabamians, T Louisi anians, Tennesseeans and Kentuc kians. The roosters beat them all. The Tenth gets all the praise the Fourth Kentucky a share. After the battle Gen. Thomas rode up before us. To told Gen. Man ya that he never saw such fight ing in his life as we did, and said ‘three cheers for the brave Indian ians” Every one 82y8 that we do beat all in a fight.
