The wives of the men on board the U.S.S. Flint held a ‘Welcome Aboard cof fee for Mrs. Edith Bailey, wife of the new comman ding officer, Cmdr. Ian Bailey, took command of the Flint in October 1977. Prior to this command, Commander Bailey and his family lived in Springfield, Va. where he was attached to the Pentagon. The Baileys presently are living on Mare Island. The family includes Ian Jr., age eight; seven, seven, and Robert, five. Mrs. Bailey has recently enrolled in a Registered Nurse refresher course in Sacramento, and will be very busy during her stay on Mare Island. The ladies baking and contributing the food for the coffee were Mrs. Audrey McDouglad, Mrs. Jan Geringer and Mrs. Ann Knouf. Hostess for the morning affair was Mrs. Yolando Medina. GUESTS FROM the U.S.S. Flint included Yolando Medina, Ruth Ann Knouf, Jan Geringer, Rose Mendoza, Betty Mc Muellen, Deloris Ancell, Audrey McDougald, Mit suko Anderson, Carolyn Burgess, Sandy Siebert and her mother; Mrs. Olga Janssen, Penny Clubb, DeLauna Turpin, Ann Mallon, Linda Doherty, Evangelina R. Mason, Lisa Davenport, Marilyn Marshall, Betty Apperson, Marilyn Castro and Mrs. Bailey, guest of honor. Discussion at the coffee included the planning of a pot luck dinner for the hus bands and wives of the en tire crew of the USS Flint.
