War and the Farm ShowThe State Farm Show again has proved itself a big success and, as before, local farmers are giving a good account of themselves. If you were able to attend one or more of the sessions this week you were fortunate for the show gave one a real insight into the mind of the local farmers today.At no time has the farmer been more anxious to increase his output, to apply scientific management to his farm, than today when foodstuffs are again needed in all the bulk obtainable.But the farm show was more than that. It was a chance to rub shoulders with the man of the soil, the backbone, so to speak, of our order of things. “Don’t think that your farmer is not interested in everything going on in the World, either,” Earl Landis, the Brunnerville ironmaster, informed us upon his return from the show Wednesday night. “I attended every session and I have heard nothing but war, the threat to our democracy, Roosevelt’s background from the time he was a baby, the possibility of a revolution in America—and that Hitler is a raving maniac.“If you could put all you hear at the farm ^how into this week’s headllines you1would really sell papers.” Earl concluded.n
