CrossThe regular weekly meeting of the Red Cross society was held Wednesday afternoon in the library of theY.M.C.A., with the president In the chair. A letter was read from Miss Arnoldi, Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe,acknowledging a donation from the Sunday School children' of the Big Eddy for Christmas presents for soldiers and saying how welcome suchgifts are and that the things sentforward included books, games, cards stationery, mouth organs, handkerchiefs. Each gift was either tied up with sweets or smokes which gn 'ethe men a good choice.The following is a list of work handed in: Mrs. Pagden 7 pair socks; Mrs. R. Copeland, Mrs. Wickens^Mal-akwa), 3 pair socks each; Mrs. Jol-Mrs Wells, Mrs. W. A. Foote, 2 pair socks each; Mrs. B. R. Black-lock. Mrs. F. T. Griffiths, Mrs. A. V. Morgan, Mrs. Soamcs, Mrs. Y. Ross, Mrs. W. McCullum, Mrs. Black-well. .Mrs. Swanney, Mrs. J. E.Wohn-slt;»n. 1 pair socks each. Mrs. Gale, t shirt (voluntary sewing); Mrs. J. Hume, 1 shirt (voluntary sewing). Mrs. Soames cut out 15 shirts.A donation of $4 was received from Mrs. J. L. Smith for two months’i. cm but ion to the Red Cross funis. Such subscriptions are most welcome and th» society tenders Mrs. Smith its sincere thanks for helping on thegood work.A word of thanks is due to the man lgement of the y.M.C.A. for their kindness in loaning to the Red Cross s »ciety the library for the weekly meetings, also for other rooms when occasion warrants.Despite the inclement weather which has prevailed since the beginning of1 the year the Red Cross workers have lost m*no of their zeal in providing comforts for the soldiers.May I again appeal for new workers and members to carry on the great and noble work.
