His sweetheart, who also livesat the boarding house will nurse him and police believe that a quarrel over the girl may have caused the shooting.Tuesday noon Sherifl Gehman had discovered a clue which directed him to a house on East 27th street Cleveland, where it was thought the fugitive would take refuge.Cleveland detectives w’ere at once detailed to try and locate the man but without avail.LATER—On the strength of a subsequent clue, Marshal Lucas, accompanied by Angelo Cataline of Rittman, the latter a friend of John Lanzo, went to Cleveland Wednesday and arrested Frank Hutto, who is now in jail at Wadsworth. When arrested, Butto is said to have had on his person two or three letters, each one of which had to do with the attentions that Lanzo is alleged to have been pay ing to the little girl living in the same house. One of the letters was addressed to Hutto’s brother, also a boarder with Lanzo, but while addressed and stamped had not been mailed. In this letter, according to the authorities, Butto made the statement that if Lanzo did not cease his attentions to the girl something would happen to him. It is further asserted that Butto, in company with a wealthy Italian from Cleveland, w’as in Wadsworth a couple of weeks ago and in an effort to entice the girl away, even visited the school where she was a pupil. It is intimated that Butto possibly may have been acting at this time as an agent of one who was also a suitor for the girl’s hand.LATER—Sheriff Gehman was called to Wadsworth yesterday afternoon by Marshal Lucas, and it was decided that Butto would be given a hearing to-day (Friday). While Butto declares his own innocence, he is frank to say that the shooting wTas done by a member of the Black Hand, of whom there is said to be more than a dozen in W adsworth. Late last evening Sheriff Gehman received word from the chief of police at Cleveland that the young Italian with the bandaged arm who disappeared from Wadsworth following the shooting and who was suspected, had been located and was under surveillance. Since the circum tances surrounding Butto’s arrest but little belief is entertained of the former’s guilt.
