The saw-mill of Dad Sons Co. at March Rapids, the industrial sup port of that community, was totally destroyed by Ghe last Friday morn ing. The origin of the fire is not definitely known, the alarm having been given at 1 o'clock Friday morning, at which time the flames had spread through the mill and the roof was on the point of drop ping in. There was no watchman. Residents of March and farmers from the neighboring homes rush ed to the work of holding the flames to check and the company store and a large stock of lumber escaped in jury. The loss of the mill is a severe one to the community of which it has been the mainstay for many years. ‘The Douds are early day lumbermen and have cut an im mense amount of lumber at this mill. Their home is in Winona and the mill has been a feeder for sev eral large retail yards. The loss is between $3,900 and $10,000, and there is no record of any insurance on the mill carried by local agents.
