*Last week Ed. Reynolds, of Hedrick, was granted a license by the circuit court for the sale of intoxicants in n less quantity than a quart, for one year. At the December term, 1890, Mr. Reynolds applied to the county commissioners for a license, but the board refused to grant the license, there being a strong remonstrance against the application. Reynolds then appealed to the circuit court with the result above stated. This is the first successful attempt at starting a saloon in the town of Hedrick, and is regarded by the citizens there as a backward step. They have always heretofore succeeded ; in their remonstrances against the evil and they feel disappointed at failure now. There was no evidence against Reynolds sufficient to justify an adverse finding inhis case.—Williamsport Republican. --
