I guess it is time to go to the bank now, Newton joked as she accepted the checkThe donation is the largest amount of money the organization has received from any one source at one time.Newton said the organization plans to use the money as a way to further develop existing programs.Valero also donated the money to II other children's charities in the area, including Girls Haven, Buckner Children and Family Services, CASA of Southeast Texas, Project Access, ChUdfenY MiracleNetwork, Port Arthur Spurs, Hughen Center, YMCA of Port Arthur, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Garth House, Mickey Mehaffy Children s Advocacy Program andIEA/Ben's Kids.The grants came from the $8.5 million raised during the 2008 annual Valero Benefit for Children Golf Classic in San Antonio, said Barbara Phillips,Port Arthur refinery public affairs manager.The Port Arthur refinery has donated money to the center for four years, Phillips said.
