Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority On July25-30,1998, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority will celebrate its 47th International Boule in the exciting city of Las Vegas, Nevada at the Riviera Hotel Casino. As a leading national service organization, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority has met the challenges of the day and continues to grow through Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. The sorority was founded 4 on the campus of Butler University on November 12, 1922. Fostering unity among women is the legacy that bonds over72,000 members found in over 400 chapters in the United States and the Caribbean.Sigma Gamma Rho's commitment to service is expressed tn Its slogan, Greater Service-Greater Progress. The sororltv has a proud history of offering service wherever chapters exist. Currently chapters are working on OPERATION BigBookBag, a program designed to address the needs, challenges and issues that face school-aged children who are educationally-at-rlsk in local homeless shelters. The objective is for chapters to provide their local homeless shelters and children's hospitals with educational materials, equipment and school supplies. Ttw sorority is in the process of entering the second phase of this program which will entail the formulation and implementation of local chapters' initiative to provide voluntary tutoring services for the benefit of homeless shelters, crisis centers, and children's hospitals.
