MABELLE C. BOOMKER Mabelle C. Boomker (nee Blink) of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Dalton and Chicago's Roseland neighbor hood, died Friday, Jan. 12 at Green ville Memorial Hospital. Services were Monday at Re formed Church of Palos Heights, with the Rev. Robert Honig officiating. In terment was in Homewood Memorial Gardens. The former Mabelle Blink was born Aug. 14, 1898, in Dalton. She was a homemaker. She was past president of Ameri can Legion Auxiliary Post and past president of the Club of Holland, Mich. Mrs. Boomker was president of various church groups in the Chi cago area and in Michigan. Mrs. Boomker was a worker for the Women’s Sufferage Movement and Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She witnessed and assisted survivors of the Eastland Disaster in 1915 and helped prepare canned goods for the hungry during the 1933 Depression. She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Modder of Greenville, Joyce Anker of Glenview and Estherinae Jegen of Palos Heights; seven grand children; and 11 great-grandchildren. EDNA MAE SCHRECK Edna May Schreck (nee Campbell) of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Crete and Lynwood and a former employee of Thrall Car Co., Chicago Heights died Tuesday, Jan. 9 in Sun City. Services were Jan. 12 in Phoenix Ariz. Burial was in Sunland Memo rial Cemetery, Sun City. Mrs. Schreck was born March 28, 1920, in Chicago. She was a former employee of Music Merchants Co. and was a member of Crete Meth odist Church. DONA JEANNE SHULKE Dona Jeanne Shulke of Calumet City died Friday, Jan. 19 at St. Mar garet Hospital, Hammond, Ind. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home, Dalton, with the Rev. BERYL MANSON Beryl Manson of Gladstone, Mich., formerly a longtime resident of Mat teson and of Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood, died Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Schoolcraft Medical Care Fa cility, Manistique, Mich. Services were Saturday at St. Law rence O’Toole Church, Matteson. In terment was in Holy Sepulchre Cem etery, Worth. Mrs. Manson was born April 19, 1910, in Rockford. She was a ticket agent for Illinois Central Gulf Rail road, retiring in 1975. She is survived by a son, Claude Jr. of Matteson; two sisters, Rhea Dryshout of Lombard and Loretta Lucas of Riverdale; three grandchil dren; and four great-grandchildren. FLORENCE GREGORY Florence Gregory of Calumet City died Monday, Jan. 8 in Munster, Ind. Services were Jan. 11 at Nowak Funeral Home, Calumet City, with the Rev. Warren G. DERRILL M. GROVES Derrill M. Groves, a longtime resi dent of Dalton, died Monday, Jan. 8 at St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond, Ind. Private services were conducted Jan. 11 at Thornridge Funeral Home, Dolton. Interment was in Oakland Memory Lanes Cemetery, Dolton. Mr. Groves was born Dec. 27, 1899, in Newkirk, Oklo. A self-employed parking lot attendant, he was a vet eran of World War II, serving in the Army. He is survived by five nieces, Mary Smith of Leb, Ill., Christine Gentry of Los Angeles, Mary Lou Kiefer of Dalton and Kathy and Karen Gentry, both of California and two nephews, James Smith of Woodriver, Ill. and William Smith of Belleville, Ill.
