AFTER AN especially grueling nine-hour trip to Kalamazoo, Mich., this season, the crashed-out Flashes were slam-dunked by a mediocre Western Michigan team, and Rex was steaming.‘‘Nine hours on a bus is just too damned long, ' said a disgusted Hughes after the game. “It's ridiculous. If I felt like riding on a bus for nine hours I’d get a season pass on Greyhound.Last but not least on the coach's headache list is the apathetic attitude the university has toward athletics in general. Which might be the biggest problem of them all.
