The Tribune. Published Wednesdays, R.O. STEVENS, Publisher Oflelal Paper of Stevens County. [Corrotat.] County Commissioners. Regular Meeting, January, 1891. Official Report of the Pro ceedings. The Board of County Commission ers of Stevens County, State of Min nesota, met at the Auditor's office in Morris, in said county, January 6th, 1891, at 10 o'clock a. m., the same be ing Tuesday after the first Monday. Present—A. P. Dye, Thorpe, Doh ren, Camp and Heller. N.R. Spurr was elected temporary chairman, when the board proceeded to elect a chairman for the ensuing year, resulting in the election of A. P. Dye. : Minutes of last meeting read and approved. The road committee, Commissioner, ‘Thorpe and Camp, appointed at the ‘October session to visit the premises and examine as to the damages claim ed by Charles Eystad, Thos. Anderson and Christian Gaarder, by reason of laying out and locating the Igo road through their several lands, reported in favor of allowing Charles Eystad the sum of $75.00, Thomas Anderson, the sum of $30.00, and Christian Gaar der $30.00. On motion the report of the commit tee was accepted and the auditor in structed to draw warrants for the sev , « rampants named, in favor of the respective parties. ‘The report of the committee appoint ed October 6th to examine as to the proposed change of highway as pray ed for in petition of Adam Anhault and others was unfavorable, which re port was adopted. The bonds of county officers were fixed as follows for the ensuing year: Treasurer, $36,000.00. Auditor, $5,000.00. Coroner, $500.00. The bond of Arthur C. Thorpe, trea surer, for $36,000.00, with K. C. Hel geson, John Erickson, Johan H. Brev ig, G. C. Thorpe and Frank W. Wil cox as sureties, was approved. The bond of Thomas E. Colahan, register of deeds elect, with John Mc Nally, and Thos. Colahan as sureties, in the sum of $1,000.00, was approved. The bond of George E. Darling, judge of probate, with Wentworth J. Dumble and Archibald A. Stone as sureties, in the sum of $1,000.00, was approved. The bond of George H. Munro for $5,000.00, with John House, Daniel T. Wheaton, H. L. Hulburd,Wm. Wuneh and John W. Harris as sureties, was approved. B.C. Stevens, court commissioner elect, bond with John D. Good and Charles Wintermute as sureties, in the sum of $1000.00, was approved. The bond of Daniel T. Wheaton for $500.00, with H. W. Stone, H. L. Hal burd and Heman W. Stone, Jr., as sureties, was approved. ‘The bond of S. H. Daley, coroner, with John D. Good and W. L. Colyer ‘95 sureties, in the sum of $500.00, was ‘The bond of N. R. Spurr, auditor, for $5,000.00, with Henry B. Wolff, John House, Leland H. Wellington and Christian Flatner as sureties, was approved. Adjourned to 100’clock a.m. Wed nesday. WEDNESDAY, 10 a. m.—Members present—Chair man Dye, Thorpe, Dobsen and Heller. The matter of the petition of Wm. Riordan and others for the formation of a new school district, laid over from ‘last meeting, was taken up. Argu sment was heard from parties interest ed on either side, occupying the time of the forenoon session. _ Argourned to half-past one o'clock =m. AFTERNOON SESSION. All of the members present. The Riordan school matter was again considered and further argument won when a motion deferring action Seafacets nesenter bodied on motion the board appropriated $18.41 to reimburse the town of Fram nas for money paid for lumber used in building the bridge across the Pom me de Terre river on the Ouakis road. ‘The report of Superintendent of Schoole Bicknoll was received and ac {the report of Clark of Court Tho [Sspan: we accepted and placed:on 0. application of Con. Noonan for son of assessment codh retate taxes was recommended favor state auditor. Peter G. Larson made application for abatement of taxes, also recom mended to state auditor. The following standing committees were appointed by the chairman: Finance—Dohlen, Heller, Thorpe, Roads and Bridges—Full board. Printing—Thorpe, Heller, Dohlen. Court House and Grounds—Thorpe, Camp, Dohlen, Dye. Adjourned to half-past one p.m. aes arrmmaQON Sn9—1: All of the members present. The salaries of county officers were dixed as follows: Auditor, $1,200.00. Treasurer, $1,200.00. Supt. of Schools, $490.00. Auditor's clerk hire, $381.00. A motion was made by M. Camp, seconded by Com. Heller, that the county attorney’s salary be fixed at six hundred dollars for the ensuing year. An amendment was moved by Com. Thorpe, making it #800. Car ried as amended. The following resolution was car ried: is uesolven, That this board grant the prayer of the petitioners, Wm. Rior dan and others, and that a new school district be formed and created, con sisting of the following described ter ritory, to wit: Sections 25, 34, 35, 36, and the east half of section 26, of the town of Darwen; the west half of sec tion 31, of the town of Hodges; sec tion 6 and the west half of section 5 in the town of Moore, to be known as school district No. 50, in Stevens county. Adjourned to 10 a. m. Thursday. THURSDAY. 10 o'clock a. m.—Board met agree aby to adjournment, with all mem bers present. The petition of P. F. Casey to have his certain described lands set off from school district No. 12 and at tached to school district No. 47, was indefinitely postponed. The committee on printing reported the following: To the Board of County Comission ers of the County of Stevens and ‘State of Minnesota. Getlemen:—Your committee to whom was referred the question of county printing, they leave to submit the following report: That your committee, after some years experience in the matter of let ting the printing of the county by bids, has invariably found the rule of [action adopted by the board has al ways been checkmated by the local newspapers and resulted in a pool, the outcome of which caused the county, to pay full legal rates. Your committee do hereby recom mend that the Morris Trinexe be designated as the official paper for Stevens county for the ensuing year, and to be paid at the rate of 70 per cent. of legal rates. or, C. The following resolution was adopt ed: Resolvep, That the Morris Trip- MNE, a weekly newspaper published in the English language in the Village for Morris, Stevens county and state of Minnesota, which newspaper has been so published and generally circulated in this county for more than one year, next preceding this date, the and the same is hereby designated as the newspaper in which to publish the delinquent tax list of taxes delinquent on the first Monday of January, A. D. 1891; and that the said newspaper be and the same is hereby designated as the official newspaper of Stevens county for the year A. D. 1891; all of such printing and publishing to be done by such newspaper for seventy per cent of the legal rate. Dated January A. D. 1891. G. C. Tuonrre. The next meeting of the board on March 8, 1891, was the date named for hearing said petition.
