Om last Monday morning a fire i broke out in the basement of the 1 Baptist Church, and be tore discovery, s reached the auditorium which was very greatly damaged—probably to the extent ot $500. The “organ”— not the one on Third street, had: one of its pedals injured and will be one stop short hereafter. It is said that the “management,'5 however, with its usual eye to business, bad provided against such accident by having a policy filed in one of its pigeon holes. Dr. Falconer and Major Mills kin are not quite ready to say that it was an “interposition,” c.., but they do admit that water saved the Church, j The congregation trill, until the church j is repaired, meet at the Y. M. C. A. rooms.
