Not Ai.uiwkd to Pkkach.—Yesterday afternoon a policeman arrested Mr. A. C. Clemens and took him to the lock-up. for preaching at the corner of Summit and Monroe streets. He was charged with obstructing the street.— The crowd had collected to witness the dtbtU of the velocipede, but it was probably feared that the preaching might interfere w ith the exhibition, and of course the preaching of the Gospel should not be permitted to obstruct the course of the new wonder. Itinerant mountebanks not tin frequently get upon n box at a street corner, where they sing or shout the praises of some worthless nostrum until the streets are crowded with eager listeners, but the vender of worthless stuff isnot arrested. Yet this man, who is perhaps a harmless roonomahiae, or he may be perfectly sane and sincere in bis mode of religious worship, is an offender. There seems to be that difference between preaching and selling quack medicines upon our streets.— Toledo Commercial.
