Yesterday, being desiroui of settling the matter, ft * *f util) beyond doubt but bejoiid question, 1 called on Mr. La Serre and stated wliat I had heard, whereupon that gentleman frankly acknowledged that, shortly before Dr. Lauder's induction, Mr. Henderson had called upon him and had stated in the i nurse ot conversation, that Dr. Lauder could not In* appointed, because the Bishop, at the time ol the Rev. Alex.. Stewart s linal duuui»«al, hat remark*d to him (Mr. Henderson), “ The people of Kingston seem to be %er\ much afraid of my bringing Dr Lauder here.
