Shower Held Near Palmer Monday Mrs. Mary Peters and Mrs. Johnnie Peters of Pocahontas and Mrs. Anna Wessels of Palmer en tertained about 50 guests at a miscellaneous shower at the latter’s home, Monday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Ray Wessels. The guest of honor received many lovely gifts. Light refreshments were served by the hostesses. Attends Dinner At Mason City Saturday A 7 o'clock dinner was held at Hotel Hanford at Mason City, Sat urday evening in honor of G.E. Andrews, district superintendent of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company of the Mason City dis trict. Mr. Andrews has been trans ferred to Minneapolis. Those at tending the dinner from Pocahon tas were the following operators: Misses Ann Wallace, Winona Ter ry, Loretta Lampe, Lucy Eral, Isabel Goodyear and Beverly Spencer. Basketball team Guests at Freak Home Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Frerk enter tained the Pocahontas high school basketball team at a Turkey dinner at their home, Sunday evening. Those present were: Roy Dillemuth, Arnold Green, Shirlyn Hynes, Wm. Streit, Jerry Zadoukal, Frederick Hudson and Harold Frerk. Follow ing the dinner a social evening was enjoyed. Contract Club Met at Watts Home Mrs. Chas. E. Watts entertained the members of the Contract club at her home Wednesday afternoon. Farewell Party Sunday Evening About 60 neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Hammer, Sunday eve ning. The occasion was a farewell party for the Hammer family who will move in the near future to their new home east of Pocahontas. “600” was enjoyed. Later in the evening a beautiful lamp was pre sented to them. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening and all departed for their homes wishing the Hammers much happi ness in their new home. Loyalty Circle Will Meet Jan. 25 The Loyalty Circle will meet with Mrs. Robt. Hird, Tuesday, Jan. 25. The assisting hostesses are Mrs. F. A. Shaw and Mrs. —. CC. Trepp. Members please bring birthday col lections. “500 Club Met Tuesday Eve Mr. and Mrs. George Wicker of near Palmer entertained the “500” club at their home, Tuesday eve ning. Johnnie Peters held high score of the men. Birthday Party At Callaghan Home A group of friends held a sur prise party on Mary Ann Korb maker at the Dr. A. J. Callaghan home Friday evening. The occasion was her 11th birthday anniversary. Various games of amusement were enjoyed. Phoenix Club Met Last Evening The Phoenix club met with Mrs. A. L. Thornton Wednesday evening. Mrs. Edith Kiefer gave an interest ing paper. Central Circle To Meet Jan. 27 The Central Circle will meet at the ‘home of Mrs. A. L. Thornton Thursday afternoon, Jan. 27. As sisting hostesses are Mrs. J. R. Grant, Mrs. Clifford Slayton and Mrs. Carl Flanagan. Newcomers Club Met Friday Mrs. Owen Morehead entertained the Newcomers club at a 1:30 o’ clock luncheon at her home Friday. Mrs. Harold George was a guest, Local Rebekahs Install Havelock Officers On last Thursday evening Dis trict Deputy President Anna Boyd and her staff from the local Rebe kah lodge went to Havelock and installed the officers in Busy Bee Rebekah lodge. After installation a social hour was enjoyed, and re freshments were served.
