The plans call for a structure 35 feet in height, upon which will be mounted the historic Fort Scott light that for years has served to guide mariners into the harbor. At present the light is located on the tower structure where a temporary standard for its support was erected when construction readied the point where it was obscured in its original position. The light in its final location will be the first major lighthouse ever to be erected upon a bridge structure.Paving Is Hurried.Before the end of the week, unless unforscen conditions arise, the paving of the main span will be commenced at its center where the form panels and reinforcing steel already are in place. It is planned to pave from the center of the span, back to the.towers on each side, and, according to the engineer the work,, once under way, will proceed with great rapidity.Keep Wrapping Cable.Cable wrapping operations arc continuing in the second stage, the wrapping machines having completed , the so-called “first pass and having been backtracked to wrap portions of the cables left exposed.Arch Work Ending.On the big arch over Fort-Scott final steel was being placed this week at the floor level, while the concrete roof slab of the Marin anchorage, which will serve as the bridge deck, was being poured at the anchorage housing.
