' ‘ .«lt; '•• - **»'* 'ti'fr V.One of Laredo’s pioneer ana most respected women passed to her eternal rest on Sunday evening, January 15, at 9 o’clock when Mrs, Maria Bruni Capra left this vale of suffering and entered that realm where no more the body is susceptible to pain and all is peaceful rest. Mrs. Capra had been in failing health for some time past, and only recently underwent a delicate operation on her leg, and from this she never fully recovered when complications set in that caused her death.Deceased, a native of Bozzi, Italy, where she was bom November 11, 1851, was married in her native land to the late Marco Capra, and came to the United States with her husband at the age of 21 years. At the time of her death she had been a resident of Laredo for over forty years and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.She is survived by her brother, A. M. Bruni; and the following children: Frank B. Capra, New^ork City; Mrs, John Dee, New York City; Mrs. Emma Capra Gla-vey, Hollywood CaL, William Capra, Laredo; Mrs. Semond, wife of Capt. W. E. Semond, instructor at Officers Training School, Columbus, Georgia; Mrs. Charles Laue of Laredo; also seven grandchildren— Misses Anita an dEthel Laue, Dorothy and Walter E. Semond Jr., Minnie, Marco and Joseph Capra.On Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock the funeral took place from the Capra home, 1604 Hidalgo street, to San Agustin church and was largely attended, while the many floral tributes that were sent to the home • of sorrow and were banked high on each side of the casket attested the high esteem in which this woman was held in the community. Interment was made in the family burial ground in the Catholic cemetery.The honorary pallbearers were: L. J. Christen, D. P. Barrow, Fidel Cantu, J, C, Martin, John Colman, J. S. Penn, J. A. Rodriguez, A. R. Garcia, Santiago Pappas, Amedee Ligarde, G .P. Farias, and M. S. Ryan: active pallbearers were A. H. Bruni, H. Bug-noli, A, J. Brunt, T. A. Leyendeck-er, L. H. Bruni and Charles Laue.
