Mr. Marius Anderson, banker and rancher of Sydney, Mont., after a careful survey of the state decided to locate at Kalispeli, and feeling that there was an opening here for a new and modern theatre and with confidence in the future of the city and locality and in the support and appreciation of the public, he undertook the construction of the Liberty theatre. Subsequently he purchased the Or-pheum theatre and together with his son, Karl Anderson, joined with IT D. McDaniel of the Princess theatre, in the joint operation of the theatres in order to be in a position to secure the best possible service for the community.The new building, located on First avenue east between First and Second streets, covers an area 43 by124 feet, with a seven foot exit way along the south side of tiie building.It was designed and its construction supervised by Architect Marion B. Riffo of this city. The building was erected by Caesar Haverlandt, general contractor, and G. Frank Grey, mason contractor. The painting and decorating was executed by H. M. Angell; the electric wiring and illuminating by A. J. Mosby, the sheet metal and roofing work by J. F. Kolb, and the plumbing, heating and ventilating by Rude Posthau-e r,It is exclusively a theatrical strucimate theatrical needs, with safetyand fire protection appliances, makes possible the presentation of high class productions which the management have in contemplation.The theatre has a total seating capacity of from 7 50 to S00 people, with an auditorium or main floor, balcony, loggias and four boxes. The chairs are all of the opera chair style upholstered in Spanish leather and decidedly comfortable. Wicker chairs with soft leather cushions are provided in the loggias and boxes. There are five hundred chairs on the main floor, with 200 in thebalcony, including the boxes and 34 loggia seats.The requirements of public safety, heating, ventilation, illumination and acoustics have been met in the most modern and ideal manner. The building is fireproof throughout end supplied with more than the required provisions for exit in case of fire. The building was recently examined by a representative of theboard of fire underwriters who complimented the architect and builders for the beauty and safety of thestructu re.Architecturally the structure is unique in its application of the Grecian lines to the modern theatre both in the exterior and interior, presenting a most pleasing and striking appearance, the soft tones of the interior blending harmoniously withthe main facade. On the left of the main lobby is the ladies’ lobby, while on the other side are the theatre offices, with the box office in the center.The equipment of the theatre in-possible a perfect picture.Falling in line with the public dlt; mand, ihe management of the Lib-rty Lav. installed a splendid pipe organ. It is tin* latest product of tho American Foto Player company’s o g a us, which carries with it piano and orchestral units for the repro-ducDon of all musical e.’rects represented by the film. It is a wonderful instrument, costing $10,000. An expert organist, Albert Plomteaux, lias been secured to preside at. theidberty organ and will be here for the opening performance. He is at present at Aberdeen, Wash., andhas nlayed in many of the largertheatres of Spokane and the coast cities.w Liberty theatre is a val-liable addition to the municipal smiotures of Kalispeli and reflects great credit to the enterprising owners, the skill of its architect andthe fidelity and capabilities of its b lilders. It goes without saying \at it will receive the hearty support of the public.Tiie Liberty wiil open on Mondaynight wi.th the presentation of the screen classic, “Humoresque,” which has been pronounced the greatest film play of 1920. In addition to “Humoresque,” one of Harold Lloyd’s million dollar comedies willbe shown.The Liberty will be under the personal management of Mr. Anderson. The Orpheum theatre will be closed, the last performance to be given on Friday night of this week. The Princess theatre will be continued as at present under the management of Mr. McDaniel.
