A national scholarship contest with prizes amounting to $8,000 was announced this week by the Elks National Foundation. All college un dergraduates can compete for the fifteen prizes, which are to be de cided on the basis of ‘the most val uable student.’ The contest is open to any high school senior or college undergrad uate who is a resident within the jurisdiction of the Order of Elks is eligible to enter. Scholarship, citizenship, personal ity, leadership, perseverance will be the basis of the national awards. College of Mines students who are interested in applying for the contest should contact N. A. Weems, W. J. Byrnes or Theodore Andress of El Paso Elks Lodge No. 187 for further details of the contest.
