Mudge Is Prisoner OfJaps, Wife Informed R3J-The Red Cross has officially notified Mrs. Arthur Mudge, daughter of M. W. Osborn, that her husband is a prisoner of the Japanese.The news ends months of anxious waiting since the fall of Corregidor during the successful southward sweep of the Japanese military juggernaut last year.Mudge, who was known to be on Corregidor, was a veteran of the U. S. far eastern forces, having served in China and the Philippines. When Corregidor fell, it was certain that he either had been takenprisoner or was a casualty of battle. The Red Cross has been endeavoring to accurately establish his fate since that time/'No word had been heard fromMudge since the attack on Pearl Harbor, which plunged this nation into the Pacific war.
