Mountain Messenger.May Open New RailroadMessrs. H. I,. Van Sickler, H.H; Harris and A. C. Hill, officials of the Lewisburg Roneeverte Railroad Company returned from a business visit to New YorkMonday morning, and it 'is rumored that their visit to the Metropolis was made in connection with a plan to build the proposed Meadow River Railroad. Although Mr. Hill, who resides in Roneeverte, refuses to discuss the matter, there seems to be some foundation for the report.According to the rumor it is the intention of the L. R. interests to continue their present line which runs from Roneeverte to Lewisburg, through Lewisburg and around through theMeadow River Coal Fields, coming back into Roneeverte by the way of Rockland. This would form a loup and would combine the L. R, and Meadow River interests, making Roneeverte the general headquarters for thecombined lines. New equipments no doubt, would be put operation on this line and rumor lias it that several New York capitalists are interested with the R. R. officials in the project. The Meadow River coal fields are among the richest in the state, and occupy the entire northwestern section af Greenbrier county. Lack of transportion has prevented the Meadow River section from being developed, as it was impossible to remove the coal after taking it from the ground. Realizing the richness of this coal field and the amount of traffic it would produce when developed, the C. 0. made a survey for a line run-CASTOR i Alor Infants and Children.Tiie Kind Yen Have Always Bough!Bears the Signature of- ROYAL TYPEWRITER, iRoyal Typewriter Building New 3iKi Westinghouse BIdg., PittsbusM^waBSSBBgaaKaHMBBweawHBaiiigHning from just below Roneeverte to the coal fields many months ago; and it has been reported on several occasions that they werepreparing to build the road. According the latest reports, the C. 0. with other capitalists are interested in the proposition that the L. R. interests build the line and operate it.The development of the Meadow River Coal fields, which can only be brought about through a railroad, would no doubt mean millions of dollars profit to the owners of coal lands and would produce in Greenbrier one of the richest and greatest coal producing counties of the state. The fact too, that in the event that the new line is built, Roneeverte will be its headquarters, willmean the dawn of a new era and of prosperity for this city.-, We are unable to state positively whether or not the report quoted above is correct, but the general indications are that it is true.— Roneeverte Times.Like Mountaineer’s Home.Tacked on the door of Congressman Littlopagc’s office in Washington is a large coon skin measuring nearly four feet from tip to tip. which was sent him by a Republican friend in Fayette county as a testimonial of his appreciation of Mr. Litticpage’s course in Congress. Accompanying the coon skin was a box of chestnuts, which now adorns a table in Mr. IJttlepage’s office. With the 127 lb. squash which Col. E. W. Brown presented to Mr, Ltttlcpage, the coon skin and the chestnuts, it only lacks a few strings of red pepper and a rifle to makq Mr. Litticpage’s office resemble the home of a real mountaineer.
