Peasley and wife of this city received word the last of fast week of the illness of the latter’s brother, Levi Paekett, at Calumet, in the form of a message calling Mr. Peasley to his bedside. That gentleman left at once for Calumet and when he arrived found that Puckett was suffering from lock jaw, brought on by his stepping on a rusty nail about December 1st, which pierced his shoe and entered the little toe. The wound healed up quickly, apparently, and Mr. Puckett paid no attention to it, until last week, when he was taken with pains and cramps in his neck, and the partial closing of his jaws. He had been working at teaming all winter, living by himself in rooms on Main Street, and kept about his work as usual until last Thursday, when he gave up and called a physician, who examined the wound in hie toe, but found no in* dieations of poison, but owing to the closing of the jaws and pains in the neck at once began to administer treatment for lock-law.When Mr. Peaslev arrived at Calumet he found hig brother-in-law dressed and laying on the bed, bat able to be up and about the room and snffering but little pain. Not withstanding the care and treatment given him he gradually grew worse, dying very suddenly about mid-i night Saturday night. Life left the' body as suddenly as if the patient had been shot directly through the heart.
