but Brave Engineer Knocks Them Out in Short Order. They Are Alleged to have Burglar ized a Store at Clearfield, New to Jeti. Two tramps are said to have attempted to steal an engine on the Beech Creek rail rad, or at Wallaceton, out day this week, but the engineer cooly knocked one of the men off the engine and compelled the other to surrenders, notwithstanding the flour ished revolver in the face of the engineer. A story in the Williamsport Law says the men were charged with a burglary com mitted at Clearfield on Monday night They were overtaken neat day by a con stable as Wallaceton, but resisted arrest and breaking away, made for an engine standing pear. Presenting a revolver, they outoarded Engineer Hofman to hold up, and give them command of the engine. Instead of obeying their summons, the pricks engine driver strack one of the 8ughs a blow which knocked him clear off the engine. The other was so awed by the unexpected turn of events that he meekly aucrendered. The men were taken to jail at Clearfield, where property stolen from Jack Dillon's restaurant, near the Beech Creek station, wi-found upon them, and they were hell for a hearing. Dillon was robbed of € 05 in goods and money, including cigar, py, and the revolver which failed to lighten the engineer.
