Bryan Bros. have opened a beef market in town. A light frost occurred Sunday morning, but no damage was done. Mrs. N. L. Hayman, of Miakka, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Broad way. Col. C. C. Whitaker, of Tampa, is having land cleared for an or ange grove here. The sloop, Jolly Tramp, is off for Key West, with a load of sweet potatoes and chickens. After a good long rest, I have decided to let the Journal-News readers hear again from Sarasota. We understand that the big saw grass has been sold to parties who will drain and plant it in sugar cane. Col. J. Hamilton Gillespie re turned by Friday’s boat, from Jacksonville, where he has been on railroad business. Capt. Fred Leue ran ashore with a new boat, lately purchased in Key West, a few mornings ago, and will probably lose her. We still have a few hogs left in town, and all are wishing for an other advance in the Key West market, hoping to get rid of them. The new two-story fish house of the Sarasota Fish Exporting Co., is about completed. This com pany will have the best wharf and warehouse on the bay. Capt. Higel is in Tampa, with his schooner Nemo, having her fitted up to run by steam as well as sail. She is expected to take the run of the Mistletoe when equipped. Sea Oats.
