Late Mexican Ambassador to Washing ton Honored by His People. City of Mexico, Jan. 17.—Thousands of people witnessed the arrival of the funeral car bearing the remains of Am bassador Romero. President Diaz, Am bassador Clayton, the Mexican cabinet, congressmen, officials and friends crowded the Mexican Central depot as the train entered trailing a darkened Pullman car containing the casket. The remains were recognized by Pres ident Diaz and his caste and transfer red to a manificent black hearse. The casket was buried and flowers, wreaths and tokens bestowed at Washington, St. Louis, New Orleans, San Antonio, and from all Mexician cities. The hall was decorated in black yellow, and silver. The speaker’s platform was set with sa ple hangings and lighted by powerful electric lights. The casket rested on the steps of the platform. Senor Romero's body lay in state un til the funeral ceremony in the after noon upon which occasion an address was made by Minister Mariscal. Then the body was taken to Dolores cemetery, and with honors which Romero was en titled to were placed at rest in the tem porary vault where the remains of Mme. Romero were placed last August. The Romero vault, which is now under construction, is a spotless monu ment of Italan marble and will be their final resting place.
