Obitu;JOHNNIE J. ONDRASEKJohnnie J. Ondrasck, 82, of Somerville, died Sunday morning, January 13 in a Brenham nursinghome.Mr. Ondrasek was born February 28, 1008. in the Cooks Point area. He attendediCooks Point School. He was | the son of the late John and Frances Urban Ondrasek. At the age of 12, f his mother died and later his father | married his step-mother, Frances I Surovik Ondrasek. In 1928, his I family moved to the Lyons community and there he met and later married Leona Poehls on May 17, 1936 in Old Washington by the Rev. Schwengeh of the Evangelical Reform Church. They had been married for 54 years. He was brought up on a farm and later he became a mechanic. He worked in Lyons, Rosenberg, Thompson and Houston. In 1944, he joined the Houston Fire Department, and after serving 20 years, he retired and moved to a ranch outside La Grange. In 1975, they moved back to Lyons community where he continued to farm and raise cattle.Mr. Ondrasek was interested in helping others when there was a need; whether it was on the farm or mechanically related; he was always willing to lend a helping hand.He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Houston and later transferred his membership to the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons. He assisted his church with contributions and his carpentry skills as he helped remodel the parsonage kitchen. He was also an active supporter and contributor of the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department.He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother; two sisters, Frances Thomas and Ruth Williams; two brothers, Vince Ondrasek and Robert Ondrasek.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leona Ondrasek of Somerville; five sisters, Delphine and her husband, A1 Oropesa of Melbourne, Florida, Lillian and her husband, Crit Gaines of Llano, Annie Mae Nordan of Silversprings, Maryland, EvelynSchubert of Lyons, Loretta Bergman Iof Pasadena, and a sister-in-law, IBetty Ondrasek of Ncches, and a inumber of nieces and nephews. iFuneral services were held at 2:00 Ip.m., Tuesday, January 15 at Evangelical United Church of Christ ^in Lyons with Rev.
