PAUL DABBS OUALIFIES FOR SCHOLARSHIPSPaul Dabbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Christian 313 S. W. Avenue I, was one of ten West Texas High School Seniors qualifying for final competition for scholarships from the Educational Fund for Children of Phillips Petroleum Company Employees. These ten West Texans are among a total of one hundred and fifty students who qualified for the final round of competition. Final selection of fifty winners will be made early in May.A total of fifty scholarships will be given by Phillips and each grant provides $500 annually during four years of college attendance, subject to satisfactory grades by the awardee.The scholarship fund was established in 1939 for the purpose of aiding children of employees of Phillips Petroleum Company and its subsidiaries in obtaining a college or university education. Approximately 940 young people have received education as Phillips scholarship holders, under awards totaling $1.84 million.Qualifying students who do not receive scholarships may apply for loans for higher education from a separate educational loan fund.
