Many Tyrone residents will re member Tuesday, January 11, 1908, when it is called to their mind the destruction by fire of the Scotia mining Settlement, now 2 ° deserted Village, fre broke out in the washer, and spread rapidly over the village, reducing most of the buildings to ashes and leading to the abandon ment of the settlement. The works were built two years later but better claims, were found in the west and Scotia, was abandoned for good in 1 911. Over 200 men were put out of work,as a result of this fire in the center of the Caynerie Iron work ings.
