FREDERICK WAROrS LECTURE.Before the Woman'* Club* Preceding HU Appearance at the Grand.The general meeting of the Woman’s Club for January was held yesterday afternoon at (Juity church, the programme being in charge of the Department of History and Travel, Miss Martha Kidder chairman.A very scholarly paper on Westminister Abbey was read by Mrs. W. K. Coffin. It was made especially attract ive by a drawing showing the ground plan of the historical structure and buildings in its vicinity; by engravings which were passed through the audience ;Ty a wall picture of Loudon loaned by Dr. T. W. Day, and personal reminiscences by Miss Kidder.wbo dis -played interesting relics secured.on a visit to the Abbey.It. was voted to change t he day of the general meeting from the third Tuesday to the third Saturday of each mouth. This cbauge is to accommodate aa large a uumber of women as possible and make the meetings avail able to those teachers who it is hoped wili become members and all others regularly engaged upon other days of the week.It was announced that Frederick Warde would lecture before the club and invited friends Saturday afternoon at Unity church. Mr. Warde’s lecture will be entitled ’‘Shakespeare, His Plays and His Players” and wilt cover the origin of the drama; its birth and development; the birth of Shakes peare, his early history; Shakespeare’s plays, their poetry, science, politics and Christianity; the distinguished players of Shakespearean drama; the noted women of Shakespeare's plays.This opportunity for enjoying the I talents of so celebrated an actor as j Mr. Warde is highly appreciated by the Woman’s Club and bespeaks for him an enthusiastic welcome in Kau Claire.
