We much regret that, misled by a daily contem porary, we recently stated that the extravagance of spending £ 7,000 on a peal of bells had taken place at Mr. Quarrier’s Home, Bridge-of-Weir. Instead of any extravagance, we are glad to learn and pub lish the facts as follows :—All buildings connected with this great work are the gifts of friends, and for the church (also a gift), two sisters in memory of their brother, presented, at a cost of about £ 700, a clock and bells. The institutions are credited with being the most economically managed of the kind in the three kingdoms. The extensive and useful work is now carried on by Mr. Quarrier in
