The Brownfield Middle School ‘‘Red Express ' Band has dominated the all regional and tryouts. Thirty-seven BMS Band members directed by Geoff Bissett were named all-region in Denver City Saturday and will be part of a 99 member all-region band to present a concert at Lubbock Monterey High School on Jan. 26. Although 13 different sc hools were represented at the Chamber Banquet Saturday Tickets remains on sale for this year’s Chamber of Com merce Banquet for $10 per person. Tickets for the banquet which is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Brownfield High School Commons, may be purchased at the chamber office or from any chamber director, Red Coat or Red Skirt. Terry County’s 1984 Citizen of the year will be named during the event. Primary speaker for the banquet will be Dr. W.C. Newberry, Southwest Texas St ate University professor and also a well known after dinner speaker and humorist, all-region tryouts, no other school placed more than 23 bandsmen on the elite group. BMS also earned more first chair spots than any other school--eight--and more second chair places--six. ‘The kids really swallowed a lot of material in a short time,’’ Bissett noted afterward, adding that, ‘‘We worked on the music three days before the Christmas break and the week after and that was it...In pre vious years we had always spent about five weeks in the music but we were cut short this year because we decided to spend part of the time on a Christmas concert instead.’’ EMI bandsmen named to the all-region band were as follows: -FLUTES: Amy Nicholson, Shanna Smith and Krista Pen dergrass.
