By CONTERBUSH Sports Editor Hairline decisions prevailed and action was the theme during last night's 10-bout amateur boxing program at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium before a house that paid $1479. Referee George Johnson and judges Archie Forson and Monty Blanks decreed four draws and two split decisions. Power-punching John Staggs, a compactly constructed 139- pounder from Modesto, managed a split decision over courageous Dan Kibby, 139, of Smith River and was named ‘‘Fighter of the Night for his efforts. But the most popular fight of the evening was a real donny break between young Marty Jim inez, 130, of the Eureka Boxing Club, and Terry Johnson, 132- pounder out of Clearview, Utah. They went head-to-head for the full three two-minute rounds and came out with a split decision draw and a thunderous ovation. Popular Johnny Olsen almost but not quite — avenged an earlier loss to stocky Tom Har rison, 147, of Albany, Ore. They fought to a split decision draw to cap the evening's entertain ment. Kibby Wins Nod In the other featured bout, Dave Kibby, Jr., 132, of Smith River, took a unanimous nod over John Watson, 128, of Clear view, Utah. Kibby gave away a considerable reach and height advantage, but had his oppo nent's nose bleeding at the end primarily because of a stinging left jab. Dan Kirk, 146, of Albany, Ore., opened the program by outpointing Dan Ortiz, 142, of Modesto. Tigerish Winford Gritts, 141, of the Eureka Boxing Club, pounded out a clear-cut win over Jess Ortiz, 133, of Modesto, in the second bout. This one, too, was enthusiastically received. Al Machado, 155, of the BBC, and Joe Nunez, 151, of Clear view, Utah, battled to a draw. James Marshall, 157, of Clear view, and Ken Collwell, 162, of Modesto, battled to a standoff ,and were roundly applauded. Southpaw Ludwig Temel, 136, of the BBC, was awarded a split verdict over Woodland's Willie Lopez, 142. Temel was the ag gressor throughout and had Lo pez bleeding from the nose at the bell. Clearview's Allan Young piled up an early lead and outpointed Rich Ortiz, 146, of Woodland. Young weighed in at 150.
