Dr. Silas Asa Conduff, beloved physician and citizen, died in Martin Memorial Hospital here Monday night after an illness of several months. The cause of death was primarily attributed to high blood pressure. He was 59 years of age. He was born in Ployd County, Va., on May 24, 1881, the son of 8r. Gar ret Conduff and Nancy Conduff. Dr. Conduff received his degree in medicine from the Medical Col lege of Virginia at Richmond, Va., in 1907. After his graduation he be gan the practice of his profession in Laurel Park, Va. In 1925 he moved to Mount Airy where he remained in active practice, specializing in eye, ear, nose and throat work until the time of his last illness. On Thanksgiving Day in 1913 he was married to Melissa Belle Webb. They have one son, Duke Putney,a student in the Dental Department of the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Conduff attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, having taken all of the degrees, including the Shrine. Besides his wife and son, he is survived by four brothers; J. Harvey, and H. Wrenn Conduff, of Willis, Va., Dr. Ton Conduff of Pulaski, Va., and Dr. M. Glenn Conduff of Ployd, Va., and by two sisters, Mrs. Co. E. Bones of Pulaski, Va. and Mrs. W. C. Buck of Rural Hall, N. C. The funeral was conducted at the home on N. Main Street Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with inter ment in Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. A. S. Hale of the First Baptist Church and Rev. W. J. Miller of the Cen tral Methodist Church officiated.
