Mr. Friedrich Redeker Succumbs After Operation at Evanston Hospital, Funeral Friday. Mr. Friedrich Redeker, president of The Peoples State Bank of Arlington Heights, died early Monday morning at the Evanston hospital following an operation performed in the hopes of relieving a complication of physical ailments. The funeral will be held Friday aft ernoon at 1:30 o’clock at the residence, thence to St. Peter’s church, Rev. Noack, officiating. Burial will be in the Euclid Rand Park cemetery of which Mr. Redeker was president and which he founded. Mr. Redeker was an example of a self-made man. His boyhood and early manhood was devoted to hard work and although far from physical ly well the past fifteen years, he con tinued his arduous duties in the bank and elsewhere. In fact it was his de sire to do his duty as a citizen that brought on the last illness, and which indirectly took his life. He was call ed for jury service and against the advice of his family, he insisted upon responding although unwell.A cold caught at that time complicated with standing ailments brought on an ac cute illness. With a weak heart and a body undermined by poor health of long standing, the cold became serious with the result that nothing that doctors could do, was able to save his life. He was recognizant of his seri ous condition and placed himself un reservely in the hands of the doctors. Mr. Redeker was identified with the business growth of Arlington Heights over 30 years. As a young man, he entered the mercantile business in his home town. He prospered by his own efforts. His character and business qualities brought him the confidence of the general public. The phenomen al growth of The Peoples State Bank can be attributed largely to its pres ident. On account of failing health he was compelled to give up his mercantile business in 1913. It was in 1911 that he helped organize The Peoples State Bank, which bank has commonly been called, “Redeker’s bank.” He has had direct charge of that institution since 1915. Many a family in the commu nity looks back to the time when Fred Redeker was a friend in need. He was not only a good banker, but possessed a heart and many a time when banking rules might not permit a loan, this bank president, person ally came to the relief of some worthy person or family. And seldom was his judgment misplaced. Physically, Mr. Redeker was of the Abraham Lincoln type, and he had many of Lincoln’s characteristics. He was also like the David Harem of fiction, in that he had faith in human nature and the honesty of mankind. Friedrich Redeker was born March 11, 1871, in Muenchehagen, Ger many. He came to America with his parents in 1882, making Arlington Heights his home, where he has lived ever since. He was confirmed March 29, 1885 and Nov. 12, 1898, he married Miss Mina Boeger. Three children blessed this union: Herman, Johns and Eleonore. Those with his wife, a grandchild, father-in-law and broth er-in-law and other relatives and hosts of friends mourn his departure. He was hardly 54 years old when death came. With ordinary health he could have lived 20 years longer as enjoyed the fruits of his la rs. Duty called him as an alderman during the days when the sewer was laid. He likewise served as trustee in the church five years. However, Mr. Redeker was not attracted to pub lic preferment and seldomtook a prominent position in public affairs. He was a kind husband and father, and an exemplary good citizen, living a life of usefulness to mankind. FRIEDRICH REDEKER
